Petite Cerise
French restaurants are a dime a dozen in DC, but Petite Cerise sets itself apart by serving its well-crafted food in a cafe that has the hallmark light, airy dining room of an actual Parisian bistro. There are other classic French elements, too, like the Beauty & The Beast-worthy basket of baguettes cooling in the open kitchen next to the tiny bar, where no one really sits, thanks to the ridiculous amount of seating sprawled across the two story restaurant. It’s a great spot for a family lunch or dinner—though probably best to leave the kiddos at home—but pay attention to what’s happening at the Convention Center if you want to avoid crowds at the Mt. Vernon Triangle restaurant. Big green flag: the sparkling water is free.
