10 Seattle Restaurants To Order From On Caviar For New Year’s Eve

Our New Years’ resolution? Ordering one of these NYE meals to eat at home and finishing the book we started in January.

This New Year’s Eve, skip standing in the cold rain to watch the Space Needle fireworks for like, 20 minutes, and bring the celebration inside. Order some celebratory food for a celebratory meal with one of these excellent options from Caviar. Disco ball strung from the roof, totally optional.

Overloading your coffee table with nigiri and shrimp tempura instead of Solo cups for guests you didn’t want to invite is always a good New Year’s Eve plan. Wabi-Sabi in Columbia City is a reliable spot for sashimi, maki, bento boxes, and hand rolls—and they even serve musubi if you’ve come to the unsettling realization that you didn’t eat enough Spam in 2021.

Do you wish you were in Paris for NYE? Yeah, join the club. Your living room might not be a moody Parisian bistro overlooking the Eiffel Tower (OK, it’s definitely not that), but a French meal from Cafe Presse does wonders for the imagination. Ring in the new year with a runny egg-topped croque monsieur, fluffy pomme frites dunked in mayonnaise, bibb salad with hazelnuts, or just three whole baguettes with butter (it’s your night after all).

Dumplings travel well, and the ones from Dough Zone are no exception. Go in on cozy couchside dan dan noodles, juicy pork jian buns, crab xiao long bao, and wontons tossed in hot and sour broth. Or if you feel like kicking off 2022 with a home full of warm steam, you can also order frozen soup dumplings in bulk to cook yourself.

Manao serves some of our favorite Thai food in the city, and if you’re hoping for one last panang curry, cashew nut beef, or crispy creamy lime zest-coated chicken before the clock strikes midnight, look no further. Plus, each meal here typically leads to some leftovers (unless you’re really hungry), so your first lunch of 2022 could be covered, too. Just be sure to add on a frosty Thai iced tea and a side of turmeric rice.

There’s nothing quite like calling 2021 a wrap while eating wraps, and Mamnoon Street understands this. To go with your shawarma and falafel sandwiches, be sure to order some mezze like hummus, mint oil-slicked labneh, muhammara, and plenty of pita for dipping—not to mention a tart bourbon sour for two spiked with sangria syrup and lemon.

If you live in West Seattle, Raccolto is always a solid route to take. Go with a lineup of fresh pastas from rigatoni all’amatriciana to fusilli with breadcrumb-topped pesto. A pork shank osso bucco cipollini risotto or sausage-stuffed quail would also be cool things to eat while wearing pajamas. Cheers to the West Seattle Bridge construction being completed in 2022 (hopefully).

If 2021 was not the year of paneer for you, there’s still time to change that with an order from Nirmal’s. We’re huge fans of their tandoori-marinated cheese rectangles in particular, but this Indian restaurant in Pioneer Square also serves delicious curries, samosas, biryani, and naan.

Some folks sip Champagne with crème fraîche and sturgeon roe, but you should be popping your NYE bubbles with spicy fried chicken instead. If this sounds like a future you’re down for, Ezell’s is a no-brainer. Order a bunch of thighs and tenders, and let the sparkling wine (and honey mustard) flow.

To encourage a fish-filled 2022, we recommend ordering a sushi spread from Moontree. Their spicy tuna mixture has a savory sesame flavor with plenty of heat, and we love it simply stuffed inside rolled nori or dolloped on top of crispy rice crowned with a jalapeño slice. Round out your table with tasty chicken karaage and some gyoza that are held together by a lacy cornstarch skirt.

When you’re met with the uncertainties of a new year, sometimes panicking feels like the only answer. But we’re here to tell you that ordering pizza is also an acceptable way to deal. The thick square pies at Dino’s are great, whether you grab yours topped with salty hot salami and onions or pink vodka sauce and snipped basil. No need to panic—eat pizza instead.
