The San Francisco-based Square Pie Guys launched their first East Bay outpost in March 2021, so we kindly urge you to put everything on pause and order a pizza from them if you haven't already. Their Detroit-style pies are incredible, and one of the best rectangular-shaped pizzas you will ever have. Each one is small (8-inch by 10-inch, serves 1 to 2 people) yet mighty. You will love the thick but light-tasting crust with cheddar baked on the outside. You will enjoy the cheesy crunch of every bite. And you will appreciate the small pepperoni cups and other toppings like garlic ricotta cream and hot honey. Like the San Francisco location, the Old Oakland spot also serves chicken wings, salads, and fries, and runs a tight takeout operation.
