Lupa Trattoria is for anyone who’s a bit old-school. It’s a red sauce Noe Valley Italian spot that doesn't take too many risks with their menu, and that’s okay. You're here for the free baguette slices, solid penne all’arrabbiata (ask for it extra spicy), and workable main plates—like a juicy, but basic, salmone al limone with mashed potatoes and spinach. The interior is beige, mahogany-filled, and almost devoid of natural light, so coming for a low-stakes pasta-fueled dinner and red wine is Lupa Trattoria at its best. There’s also a covered back patio that brings the same dark wood vibes outside, if you’re looking to feel less like a vampire during dinner.
