Cafe Nido

Walking through Cafe Nido’s thatched entrance and into its serene back patio is a little like Alice falling down that damn well—exhilarating and completely disorienting. This daytime-only coffee shop operates in the shady, green-tiled backyard of Tenants Of The Trees in Silver Lake (the two businesses are not connected). There's a parked trailer full of used books that you can read while drinking crisp iced lattes and eating simple sandwiches with brie and prosciutto. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were in Condesa or walking around Palermo in Buenos Aires. And that’s exactly why this place has lines out the door. Cafe Nido is more than just a coffee shop. It’s an escape where, for at least one morning, you can pretend to be a more interesting version of yourself.
