5 Exciting Things To Do Between December 1st-5th
The turkey leftovers are gone, movies are getting good again, and your cat’s already tried to bring down the holiday decorations twice. Yep, it’s officially December. While everyone’s social calendar is no doubt a bit fuller these days, it’s important to reserve some time to stop and appreciate it all. That could be in the form of winter markets, on-stage holiday shows, or getting up early to try out a new bagel shop. Here are our top picks for the week.
The Events
The Holiday Festival at Dodger Stadium is up and running until December 31st. Open nightly until 10pm, the festivities include live entertainment, light displays, an ice skating rink, holiday-themed food and beverage options, and even a chance to see Santa. Tickets are $16 and must be ordered in advance.
If you just can’t wait any longer for Bagel And Slice to open in Highland Park, you’re in luck. This Sunday, December 5th, the bagel and pizza purveyor is hosting a special pop-up at their soon-to-open space on York Blvd. in Highland Park. The event starts at 9am and will feature both plain and rosemary za’atar bagels (gluten-free options are available as well), caraway-kamut bialys, open-face lox sandwiches, and a variety of beverages. We recommend showing up early because once the bagels are gone, they’re gone.
Drag icon Ginger Minj is putting on a special holiday show this Saturday, December 4th at Dynasty Typewriter in Koreatown. The show starts at 7pm, but we recommend getting there around 6pm when doors open to snag a good seat (it’s general admission). Tickets include a meet and greet after the show as well.
This spot is Permanently Closed.
This Saturday, December 4th, Little Lands Wines will be pouring wines at Gamboge in Lincoln Heights. The event will run from 4-9pm and will feature wines by the glass and bottle, DJ sets, and excellent Khmer food courtesy of Gamboge.
If there is no such thing as too many holiday markets in your mind, listen up. Typewriter Connection is hosting one of their own at the Downtown co-working space As We Dwell. The event is happening this Saturday, December 4th from 12-6pm and will feature handmade gifts, original artwork, letterpress art, gift wrapping, baked goods, and more. Admission is free.
