Don’t feel bad if you’ve walked by Anchovies in the South End a hundred times and never realized it was anything more than a little neighborhood bar. That’s because it is a little neighborhood bar...it just also happens to have a surprisingly great menu of meaty sandwiches and red sauce Italian dishes. It’s a good combination, because it turns out that a chicken parm sub is never quite as good as it as around midnight when you’re starting to spill your beer but plan on getting one more anyway.
