Philly Cheesesteak Place
Included In
Old Atlanta will remember when the original Philly Cheesesteak Place opened in Ansley Mall in 1972. Their current location, in a shopping plaza off Cheshire Bridge, sits at the end of a downhill slope and is easy to miss unless you already know it’s there. But the new location keeps its OG charm with a handful of tables and several faded food posters that look as if they’ve been hanging since the ‘70s. But the older decor isn’t a reflection of the cheesesteak, which is why you should be here in the first place. They're cooked slowly (but with love) on a lone griddle behind the order counter. That means the wait time is a little longer than usual, but we don’t care when our extra cheesy cheesesteak comes out hot with freshly grilled, chopped steak bits on warm bread that stays firm from the first bite to the last.
