If you want to eat somewhere in Dumbo that won’t be packed with tourists wearing cameras around their necks, go to Pedro’s, a casual Mexican spot a block from the F train at York Street. Sit at an outdoor table, and eat huevos rancheros or a chorizo burrito, which is massive and costs $11, while watching the masses of people clog up the sidewalks on their way towards the waterfront.
Gran Electrica serves simple, excellent Mexican food and creative cocktails. It also has a great back patio.
Smile to Go is a counter-service version of the original cafe in NoHo that’s good for a quick snack and coffee while you walk around Dumbo.
Westville’s Dumbo spot is just as good for a quick and healthy meal as the other locations, with the added bonus of being close to the Brooklyn Bridge
Calaca is a little cash-only Mexican spot in Bed-Stuy where you should drink flights of tequila while eating some great tacos and tostadas.
