Frenchette Bakery at The Whitney
Included In
Come for the Hopper collection, stay for the pastries. We’re already huge Frenchette fans, and this cafe, located inside the Whitney museum in Meatpacking, lives up to the name of the original French restaurant in Tribeca. You can order pistachio cream pastries, sandwiches, and other baked goods at the counter, or sit down for a full-service menu that also includes pizz’ettes with airy crusts, a few entrees like oxtail daube, and small servings of pasta, like a bowl of campanelle with chestnuts and rich dollops of chicken liver. There are plenty of tables and high-tops in the bright, open space, which is surrounded by potted plants and steel-grid structures designed by artist Rashid Johnson.
