5 Exciting LA Pop-Ups Happening This Weekend In LA
Can you feel it? The weather’s getting warmer, flowers are starting to bloom across the city, and we don’t know what it is exactly, but there’s something percolating in the air. In other words, you’re probably in the mood to leave your apartment and try something new. That’s why we’re highlighting a couple of particularly exciting restaurant pop-ups that, like Harrison Ford in his prime, will only be around for a limited time.

The Pop-Ups
The expert flautas specialists just dropped their schedule for this weekend. On Friday, April 9th, you’ll be able to find their crispy, deep-fried rolled tacos doused in house-made salsa roja at Brewjeria Company in Pico Rivera at 5pm, Saturday in front of Highland Park’s La Cuevita, and in the Arts District, behind Angel City Brewery on Sunday. Plan your weekend accordingly.
The Platform’s LA Food Renaissance series continues this weekend with Khemla, a Cambodian pop-up run by Phert Em. On Saturday, April 10th, Khemla will serve dishes like prahok ktiss - ground pork belly made with lemongrass, curry, and fermented fish paste - as well as a shredded roast chicken Khmer salad, toasted sesame panna cotta, and chocolate banana brownies. The event runs from 12-3pm in Culver City.
The Silver Lake restaurant is heading to the next stop on their Freedman’s World Tour, a revolving dinner series exploring the rich traditions of the Jewish Diaspora. This week, they’re showcasing Tel Avi’s Kerem HaTeimanim, the Yemenite Quarter, where you’ll find family-style meals that include sourdough flatbreads, hawaij chicken rice, and braised oxtail simmered in berbere spices. Pick ups run from April 8-10th, click here to place an order.
OK, technically this one falls on a Monday, but the popular Echo Park fish fry has partnered up with Good Pierogi for a special, one-night dinner. On Monday, April 12, the two pop-ups will be serving a medley of pierogis, seabass sausage, and slaw from 6-10pm on their patio. It’s dine-in only, and the seating is extremely limited.
