You can tell a good Italian restaurant from its classic tomato sauce. And the tagliatelle burrata at Faros, a moody Italian spot on Grays Inn Road, has the kind of excellent basil tomato sauce that’s rich, peppery, and is even better than their fancy truffle number. It’s a rustic-style restaurant, with rattan seating outside and a cosy feel to its downstairs dining room. The menu of burrata-topped pizzas and earthy pappardelle, combined with the dimly lit room, make this an excellent place for a romantic date, or a lengthy catch-up that starts with refreshing bruschetta and ends with a creamy tiramisu.
