Parson's Chicken & Fish
Included In
Parson’s Chicken & Fish is all about the patio. A patio so good that it’s our favorite one in town. While there are plenty of great places to eat and drink outside, nowhere else has the combination of food, fun, and a sense of civility so you don’t feel like you’re on spring break. Add in the fact the food is all about fried chicken, and you have the makings of an awesome place.
Fried chicken is the main attraction on the food front and a giant plate to share with your table should make up most of your meal. Fried chicken sandwiches are also acceptable to eat by yourself. Round things out with oysters to start and pimento cheese toast or hush puppies on the side and you’re good to go.
As if the outdoor patio wasn’t great enough in the summer, Parson’s also likes to build a skating rink in the winter so you can skate and eat fried chicken at the same time. We’re pretty sure it’s the only place in the world where you can do that, at least that’s what we choose to believe.

In the summer, Parson’s is destination dining, and you’ll want to go out of your way to post up on their back patio picnic benches with a group of friends. The waits can be long, but ping pong tables and negroni slushies will help keep you occupied while you stand around. Just be careful of those slushies, because as refreshing as they are in the heat the amount of alcohol in them can creep up on you quick. If we lived in LA, Parson’s would easily be a 9.0 and a place to eat at all of the time, but the reason that’s not the case is because the patio is only usable a couple months out of the year.
As for the actual indoors, Parson’s isn’t very big. It feels like a small 1950′s lunch counter but with a full bar. Come if you live nearby, but the place doesn’t have the same appeal if you have to sit inside.
Patio season at Parson’s is where it’s at, and when it’s nice outside there’s no better place to be.
