After reviewing the latest census data, we can confidently report that there are now officially as many fast casual restaurants in DC as there are people. Shouk doesn’t hold the same status in our hearts as Sweetgreen or Cava, but it’s a good healthy-ish option when you've had a little too much crazy feta and Spicy Sabzi in your life. The Middle Eastern menu is all vegetarian, and you can get your food in a pita, on a salad, or on a burger. Shouk’s small space gets crowded, so plan accordingly. Side note: to the next lunch spot opening in DC, please be sure to include more than 15 seats.

Stop by Glen's in Dupont for a quick sandwich or pizza on the patio.

Duke’s Grocery is a low-key gastropub in a Dupont row house. The burger is rightly famous, but you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu.

The phenomenal tapas and fun times here might be the best example of what Jose Andres has done for DC eating.
