Colada Shop has a convenient location off 14th Street, a garage-style door that opens up to an excellent patio right on T Street, tropical-colored walls and floors, and friendly baristas. As for the food? It’s perfectly fine.
The Cuban menu isn’t bad - it’s just not as great as everything else this place has going on. The croquetas are missing some crispiness and the avocado salad could use some salt. The toasted bread is addicting - but so is most white bread slathered in butter.
But even without mind-blowing food, Colada Shop makes its way into our breakfast and lunch rotation. It’s an easy spot to grab something quick and cheap-ish, and the space makes us feel like we don’t live in a swamp. You don’t need to travel across town for a meal here, but if you’re in the area, you’ll be perfectly satisfied.
