Nodaiwa is an old-school, traditional Japanese spot known for their delicious unagi (eel). It’s historical, elegant, and on the more expensive side (you’ll need a reservation), but not so extreme that you’ll need to empty your bank account for a meal here. It’s also located right near Tokyo Tower, so make it a point to catch a 360-degree view of the city before or after a meal here.
Uoshin is a traditional izakaya and a great introduction to Japanese cuisine. Go heavy on the fish.
Torishige is where the office workers (salaryman) head after work. It's a yakitori spot with excellent chicken skewers.
Katsu (fried chicken or pork) is a traditional Japanese dish, but Imakatsu is one of few places to get it perfectly right.
Ryugin is one of the most famous Michelin-starred spots in Tokyo. Prepare to spend at least $400 and eat things like “olive beef."
