15 SF Restaurants To Order From On Caviar For New Year’s Eve
Our New Years’ resolution? Ordering one of these NYE meals to eat at home and finishing the book we started in January.
Presented by
Caviar
Staying in for New Year’s Eve can (and should) be as much fun as going out. Especially if you order from one of these spots on Caviar. Break out the good china (or at least don’t eat straight out of the container your food came in), put a fireworks video on the TV, and order up a celebratory spread. Bonus points for opening champagne and doing the whole thing in your pajamas.
Pacific Catch
There are plenty of fresh seafood dishes to choose from at Pacific Catch, whether you’re in the mood for poke and ceviche, or a grilled salmon burger with avocado and citrus aioli. Or, if you’re overly worried about mercury intake (or just eating with a grown adult who thinks they don’t like seafood), the non-seafood options are solid too, including the sriracha steak tacos.
Square Pie Guys
When you’re met with the uncertainties of a new year, sometimes panicking feels like the only answer. But we’re here to tell you that ordering pizza is also an acceptable way to deal. Especially when it’s from Square Pie Guys. Known for their Detroit-style pan pizza, which has a crispy bottom and fluffy middle, the pies here seriously deliver. If you need more coping mechanisms in the form of food, know that they also have wings and cheesy bread on the menu.
Souvla
This fast-casual Greek restaurant is known for their straightforward, but always reliable menu. Pick your protein—or the vegetarian option—and then whether you want it served as part of a sandwich or salad. Be sure to include an order of Greek fries, as well as their frozen Greek yogurt for dessert.
4505 Burgers & BBQ
You’re having people over, but one hour in you’re realizing that the chips and dip aren’t going to cut it. Order a giant spread of 4505 Burgers & BBQ’s wood-fired meats, like their pork shoulder, beef brisket, hot links, ribs, and more. And by more we mean, at least one of their very good cheeseburgers that you don’t share with anyone else.
Dancing Yak
We’re no meteorologists but our prediction for NYE weather is: not warm. Heat things up with dinner from Dancing Yak—order the tikka masala, butter chicken, saag curry, and naan, plus at least one more serving of the momos than you think you need.
Palette Tea House
From the people behind Koi Palace and Dragon Beaux, Palette Tea House serves some of our favorite dumplings in town. Their xiao long bao come in five colorful flavors, including a tasty crab roe with a turmeric wrapper. Also, ordering the har gow, which come with a small pipette of lobster butter, is never a bad idea.
Burma Love
Burma Love hails from the Burma Superstar family, so you know you’re in good hands. The fiery braised hodo tofu and pork belly with ginger and chili are must orders, and the ideal meal when you’ve decided to call it and ring in the new year on the couch.
Flour + Water Pizzeria
There’s truly nothing better than a pizza party, and for New Years Eve, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have the best version of a pizza party by ordering from Flour + Water Pizzeria. All the essentials are present, including mozzarella sticks, chewy-crispy pies, and—possibly most importantly—house-made ranch.
Elephant Sushi
To encourage a fish-filled 2022, we recommend ordering a sushi spread from Elephant. Start with some truffle oil-topped seared yellowtail and spicy tuna rolls, add some nigiri and maybe some shrimp tempura. And considering it’s the last day of the year, you should also add on some toro sashimi.
Daeho Kalbijjim & Beef Soup
People line up outside for hours to dine at Daeho Kalbijjim & Beef Soup, but that’s entirely unnecessary. You can get all the good stuff—Korean BBQ, braised short ribs, beef soups, bibimbabs and more—delivered straight to your door without ever having to leave the house.
Beit Rima
Beit Rima bills themselves as serving Arabic comfort food, and they don’t disappoint, from shish tawook and kabobs, to stewed fava beans and chef Samir’s daily-made hand-kneaded bread. You’re going to want to order everything on the menu, so invite everyone you know, order a spread, and be prepared to eat.
Nopalito
For excellent carnitas, chicken drenched in mole, and pozole we want to take a bath in, Nopalito has you covered. Don’t forget to order the totopos, which are covered in a snowstorm of shaved cotija and crema.

Prubechu
This Guamanian restaurant in the Mission serves up sweet rolls, titiyas, beef empanadas, and other Chamorro dishes. The tinaktak—a creamy dish with handmade egg noodles, cherry tomatoes, green beans, and coconut beef—will make you feel like you’re wrapped in the coziest blanket on the planet, a feeling we probably all need as 2021 comes to an end.
Lily
This upscale Vietnamese restaurant in the Richmond gives incredible attention to detail with every single dish on the menu. The shaking beef salad comes with edible flowers and a soft poached egg, and the whole fried red snapper arrives resting on a bed of pineapple and pea leaf chow fun and house-made kimchi. You’ll want to order everything on the menu, so gather a group and order as much as possible. Also, get their excellent Vietnamese iced coffee with salted duck egg foam.
As the restaurant’s name suggests, chicken is the main attraction at The Bird—fried chicken sandwiches to be exact. They also serve wings, a salad topped with their signature chicken, loaded fries, and burgers if you’re in more of a beef mood.
