15 Miami Restaurants To Order From On Caviar For New Year’s Eve

Our New Years’ resolution? Ordering one of these NYE meals to eat at home and finishing the book we started in January.

Skip the Miami traffic and famous DJs this New Year’s Eve and have a night in instead. A celebratory mood calls for celebratory food, so order from one of these excellent spots on Caviar. Set the table, DIY yourself a ball drop, and ring in the new year with a truly excellent meal.

If you want to end the year with a bang, a spread from Coyo Taco is a pretty great way to do just that. We like the carnitas de pato and the fried grouper tacos. Don’t forget to order a half gallon (or two?) of their house margarita.

For a NYE pizza night, plus up your regular pizza delivery with pies from Mister 01. They’re famous for their star-shaped pizzas. Try our favorite, the star luca, which has ricotta stuffed inside a crust folded with origami precision. Or (our second favorite) the claudio, a white pizza served at room temperature with a swirl of white truffle oil.

This Argentinian spot in Little Haiti has some very good grilled meat platters, as you’d expect. But they do other things well too, like the sweet corn and mozzarella empanada de choclo we’ll be dreaming about well into 2022.

The pizza at Lucali is absolutely worth the almost-guaranteed wait time to get a table, but getting it delivered will make you the star of any party you’re hosting. Their pies have the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese to crispiness to thickness, which is the kind of balance we hope to achieve in 2022.

For Cuban food that feels a little fancier than some other spots around town, Doce Provisions is a great choice, with a fusion menu that serves up classics in exciting ways. Try the sweet plantains paired up with fried chicken or the tostones smothered in crispy vaca frita.

Quinto la Huella is the perfect option if you’re looking to get all dressed up and lounge around your living room like you’re in a jazz age film. Start with a few dishes from this upscale Uruguayan restaurant’s raw bar (served with champagne, obviously), before moving on to some meat and seafood done in their giant wood-fired grill.

The River Oyster Bar in Brickell is a great place to order from if you’re entertaining out-of-towners for the holiday, if only to show off that we get to eat “summer” food all year round in Miami. All their seafood is great, but the scallop crudo and spicy tuna tartar are standouts.

Affordable and South Beach don’t usually go together, but Toni’s Sushi Bar breaks the mold by offering some really great sushi at reasonable prices, even on New Year’s Eve. The Toni’s Choice Platter is a fun way to sample some of the sushi, maki, and sashimi options with a group.

Few places are as quintessentially “Coconut Grove” as Kush by Spillover. It’s got a wide ranging menu that showcases some great seafood, like fresh shucked oysters and a grouper Reuben, alongside dishes like the guava-smothered frita and a hearty vegan jambalaya.

Much like the year 2021, the cuisine at Pinch Kitchen is hard to put into words. Unlike 2021, it’s all great. This Upper East Side spot has a wide menu featuring circular croquetas, Korean guacamole, and a Wagyu vacio that might be one of the best steaks in the city.

Café Prima Pasta has all kinds of Italian classics on their menu, including spaghetti and meatballs and chicken marsala, but the cheese- and pear-filled fiocchi is probably their biggest hit. They’ve also got a good amount of vegan and gluten-free options, all at reasonable prices and portion sizes.

New Year’s Eve falls right in the middle of stone crab season, so a platter of fresh claws from Captain Jim’s is a no-brainer for any type of gathering. Follow those up with some of their daily-caught fish, plus cracked conch and lobster bisque.

If you’re looking to have a fancy South Beach New Year’s Eve experience without having to deal with, well, South Beach on New Year’s Eve, try ordering some sushi from Azabu. They’ve got a good number of rolls and sashimi, served as platters or a la carte, plus Robata-style meat and seafood options too.

For a plant-based option, check out Thatch Miami in Wynwood. The menu runs the gamut from pizza and pasta to pad thai, and everything is vegetarian or vegan. We like the crispy cauliflower or the double cheeseburger made with Beyond patties.

Osaka Nikkei is an upscale Peruvian restaurant that’s great to order from if you’re having a few people over. Get a bunch of small dishes, like the tuna tataki tiradito, with plenty of sushi to follow, plus some of their to-go cocktails.
