Inspired by Venezuelan roadside “taguaritas,” Orinoco stands out as one of the city’s best places for Latin American flavors. The antojitos section of the menu is especially great if you’re having people over this NYE, with finger food options like bacon-wrapped dates, and marauchitos of queso blanco wrapped in crispy dough and served with chipotle ketchup.

A restaurant that specializes in pizza and ice cream—what’s not to love? A brick oven char is the secret to this South End favorite’s prodigious pies, which range from the classic (like pepperoni, or sausage and ricotta), to the not-so-common (the Alsatian, with sauteed onions, shallots, crème fraiche, bacon and gruyere). Throw a couple of hand-packed ice cream pints onto your order and you’ve got yourself a bona fide pizza party.

You’re looking to get food delivered because you don’t want to cook, but in select cases, some assembly is worth it. Exhibit A: Mama Chang’s pork + chive dumplings from Myers + Chang. The kit comes with all the prepared ingredients and instructions to make around 40 dumplings. Order some of the wok-charred noodles to eat while you get them ready.

You’ll find a few regional varieties of Chinese cuisine on the menu here, but we like to focus on the flavorful dumplings. Soup dumplings, pork and leek dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings, vegetarian dumplings, seafood dumplings—there are so many options here, you’ll certainly have enough to carry you over to your first lunch of 2022.

Asian street foods with a twist are the name of the game at this Chinatown mainstay. A couple orders of the shojo pig bao, a mound of duck fat fries with sriracha aioli, and some of their signature Far East Baja-Style Fish Tacos and you’re in business.

This last year had some highs and more than few lows, but if you want to end things with a guaranteed win, order from Coppa. The arancini are legendary, the blue fin crudo with blood orange and pomegranate is inspired, and the cacio e pepe bucatini is probably the best of its kind in Boston.

Pasta lovers, set your sights on Mida, where house made pasta is the name of the game. There are classics like bucatini alla amatriciana and cacio e pepe gnocchi, as well as more inspired dishes like lobster carbonara.

This spot is Permanently Closed.

Opt for a little elegance this NYE with takeout from this buzzy French restaurant. Appetizers like the foie gras parfait or the heirloom squash and comte cheese galette make for great cocktail accompaniments early in the night, and the classic steak frites (or better yet, duck frites) pairs beautifully with the midnight ball drop.

Anyone who knows good sushi keeps this Harvard Square institution in regular rotation. You can certainly order a la carte, but there’s no need to overcomplicate things—trust the chef’s selection and go with the any of the nigiri or sashimi platter options.

It’s hard to go wrong with the authentic Greek menu here, but two things stand out in particular: the bread that’s made-to-order for each and every pita, and the whole-roasted chickens to go that come with all the fixings, including tzatziki, charred lemon, mizithra cheese, a Greek salad, and Saloniki’s signature crispy smashed potatoes.

Skip the Solo cups and guests you didn’t really want to invite and have a more casual night at home with dinner from Celeste. The scallop crudo, octopus with black olive mayonnaise, and black mint stew with squash, fava beans and potato might just be the explosion of flavors you need to kick off 2022.

You can check off your list for both dinner and breakfast by ordering from this modern Jewish delicatessen. For your NYE feast, grab a couple of Reubens and orders of latkes with sour cream and apple sauce. For your NYE morning after, the pastrami, egg and cheese sandwich smothered in Russian dressing hits the spot.

Modern takes on New England seafood are what makes the Boston location of this Maine favorite stand out. Of course, Eventide’s famous brown butter lobster rolls take center stage (as they should) but don’t sleep on the fried chicken katsu sandwich, which comes with a healthy shmear of maple Chinese mustard, or the crispy fish sandwich with house made tartar sauce.

The combination of flavors is simply sublime. Check out the mushrooms with sunflower seed romesco, roasted beets with yuzu and whipped labneh, spicy hand-pulled biang-biang noodles, and Hamachi sashimi with tamari and thai chili from this Japanese-Spanish restaurant in Central Square. For larger appetites, the suckling pig for 2, 4 or 6 people is a great NYE crowd pleaser, too.
