There are some delicious things at Schmaltzy’s, a deli in Fremont. Things like crispy latkes, creamy white chocolate cheesecakes, and potato knishes filled with gruyere (that we’d like to keep in our pockets at all times). However, Shmaltzy’s pastrami is too thick and barely has a cured flavor to it, and the matzo balls are stuffed with way too many distracting herbs. Plus, their black and white cookies aren't as cakey and puffy as they should be. Don’t bring a New Yorker here unless you want to upset them.
