Loxsmith Bagels
A line forms 20 minutes before Loxsmith opens its doors on weekend mornings. A line of Seattlelites who are chasing the high of a good schmear. This longtime bagel spot is now in a permanent location on Beacon Hill and the bagels are fluffy, with a crisp exterior and a chew that snaps back. Bagel options range from egg everything to sesame nori—plus, there's babka. And while the whitefish salad wouldn't quite hold up at a shiva, and the lox is sliced a little too thick for our taste, we're excited to have somewhere on the south end to get these things. A foolproof order is the namesake Loxsmith sandwich with nova lox and scallion schmear, on an everything bagel topped with tomato, caper, and onions. And if you hear someone say to the cashier “I Used To Live In Brooklyn,” don't worry. You haven't stumbled onto an Amazon campus. Someone is just ordering the herring, whitefish, and nova lox bagel.
