If you want a special-occasion vegan spot, this is your place. It serves a five-course tasting menu for around $100 a head, and there’s only one 7pm seating per night (Wednesday to Sunday). At the beginning of dinner, the chef rings a ceremonial gong and gives a monologue about the menu and the purveyors and foragers who helped supply the ingredients that went into things like your cashew-stuffed squash. Then you’re off on your fancy plant journey. This all might sound like a bit like a Portlandia episode, but we promise, the food holds up—even for omnivores.
