Zazie is a neighborhood institution and with good reason. The service is friendly to both humans and animals, and the French-inspired food is great as well. Brunch is the main draw (there will be a wait) and the pancakes and French toast are exceptional. Dinner is overlooked, but just as good, plus they take reservations. The heated back patio is an ideal spot for drinking wine and having a leisurely dinner.

Routier is a casual French place in Lower Pacific Heights that makes an iconic chicken liver mousse. It’s a destination restaurant in disguise.
