Rize Up Sourdough

(415) 218-4031

San Francisco, California

Like a lot of your friends on your Instagram feed, Azikiwee Anderson tried making sourdough at the start of shelter-in-place. But unlike most, his were actually good. He bakes the bread out of ovens in his Inner Richmond backyard, and uses ingredients you don’t typically find in sourdough, like hot links, blackberries, and cherries. Anderson used to sell his loaves via Instagram - but now, to get your hands on one, you’ll need to order ahead online (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are pick-up days), or grab one at Excelsior Coffee on Sundays.

When the pandemic hit, former private chef Azikiwee Anderson started making sourdough loaves out of his backyard oven in the Richmond and selling them via Instagram - and the business quickly took off. The crusty, chewy loaves are filled with things you won’t normally see in a loaf of sourdough, like bacon and parmesan, candied blueberries, and even Louisiana hot links, which are inspired by Anderson’s hometown of New Orleans. You can order here for pick up on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

After the shutdown in March, Azikiwee Anderson started perfecting his sourdough bread in his Inner Richmond backyard, and in June began selling loaves of it through Instagram. Anderson’s loaves use ingredients you don’t typically find in sourdough - hot links, scallions, garlic confit, blackberries, and even chocolate chips and candied pecans. You can order for pick-up online, or snag a loaf at Excelsior Coffee on Sundays.
