Midnite Bagel’s fantastic bagels are unapologetically San Franciscan. They’re made with whole grain sourdough, for one, and are denser than most others you’ll find in town. And if you get them in bagel sandwich form, they perfectly complement the range of vegan and vegetarian-friendly toppings—think cashew or Humboldt Fog cheese, smoked salmon with crunchy pickled onions, and a combination of plump heirloom tomatoes, cucumber slices, and basil that tastes like a bountiful fire escape garden box exploded in your mouth. And since this town welcomes unique takes on bread, grab at least one nutty, slightly sweet buckwheat black sesame bagel—it’s reason alone to come back to this Inner Sunset cafe.
