Hummus Bodega
This counter-service restaurant in the Richmond has everything we want in a quick-hit lunch spot. Their solid Mediterranean plates are filling, but not so heavy that you’ll be in desperate need of a nap afterward. And decision-making is efficient—just pick whether you want a pita, bowl, or plate, and narrow down a filling like fried eggplant or sautéed mushrooms (there are lots of vegetarian options). The crispy falafel are a standout, along with the fried-to-order chicken schnitzel that’s nice and golden brown. If you’re on a mission to get in and out as fast as possible, you can take your spread to go. Alternatively, stay awhile at one of the few tables inside.
