Holder's House
You could feel the city collectively mourn when Miss Ollie’s shuttered for good earlier this year. The silver lining: the chef behind the beloved Caribbean spot is churning out a version of its game-changing fried chicken, incredible saltfish and ackee, and roasted vegetables at Holder’s House, a pop-up operating out of a shared commissary kitchen near Uptown Oakland. In the outdoor patio, you’ll be reunited with the flavorful skillet-fried, grilled, jerked, and pan-roasted meats and vegetables that Miss Ollie’s was known for. And you’ll also have your choice of beer, wine, and fruity juices to go with whatever you get. Despite the popularity of its talented predecessor, this spot is surprisingly quiet—up to you to check out the menu of the day on Instagram, and head over to change that.
