Comal Next Door is the little sibling of one of our favorite restaurants in Berkeley, Comal, which is in fact next door. This spot is much more casual than its older counterpart, but the food is still excellent. Instead of shareable things like albondigas and carts bringing around chips and guacamole, Comal Next Door is counter service only and has simpler dishes like tacos and burritos. We like the achiote grilled chicken in ours, and the al pastor is great, too. Also, you can still get guacamole, it just won’t be wheeled to you on a cart.
