Auntie April's Chicken, Waffles, & Soul Food Restaurant
Where we've featured it
Auntie April’s is a Bayview institution and where you should go anytime you want a plate of incredible chicken and waffles. Each order comes with two pieces (tenders, leg, thigh, or breast) and your choice of the original, cinnamon, or red velvet waffle, and you can enjoy it all on their parklet out front. They’re open Thursdays to Sundays starting at 11am.
“I’ve made a lot of food at home this year, but chicken and waffles is something I’ve left to the experts. Enter Auntie April’s. The soul food restaurant in Bayview opened back in 2008, and has been making incredible chicken and waffles ever since. You can choose between an original, cinnamon, or red velvet waffle, which is then topped with two pieces of juicy and super crunchy chicken (you can get any combination of thigh, breast, or leg). The order, of course, comes with a side of syrup, which I happily drizzled over my delicious lunch feast. Auntie April’s is open for takeout, but they also have several tables out on their parklet.” - LC

For some damn good soul food, you’ll want to make your way into Bayview and grab a seat at Auntie April’s. This restaurant is a San Francisco institution (est. 2008), thanks in no small part to the eponymous dish made with the most perfectly breaded fried chicken and house-made plain, cinnamon, or red velvet waffles.
