It’s never been a more exciting time to eat and drink in SF. And as vaccination rates continue to rise and things start to open back up, the phrase “making plans” is quickly re-entering our vocabulary. So if you’re in need of ideas, we’re here for you. Here are five new openings, events, and special menus to check out this week.
On April 17th, Almanac Beer is hosting a Bay Area-wide Day Of Action to support the AAPI community in light of recent hate crimes and anti-Asian sentiment. Tons of businesses are showing solidarity by donating proceeds and spotlighting Asian-owned businesses. For example, Boichik Bagels, Good-To-Eat Dumplings, and Original Pattern Brewing are joining forces to offer Taiwanese-inspired bagels and beer, with proceeds from their collaboration being donated to AAPI Women Lead. Pie pop-up Pie Society will also be donating 10% of proceeds to AAPI Women Lead between April 12th-17th. Check out the full list of participating businesses here.
Lord Stanley’s latest pandemic pivot is the return of the “LS Burger Joint,” operating out of their takeout window in Nob Hill. Starting April 13th, you can order beer-battered onion rings, clam chowder, Kennebec fries, and, of course, the LS burger, made with special sauce, bread and butter pickles, cheddar, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun. They also have beer, wine, and cocktails available to go. Pre-order on Tock.
This Berkeley-based bakery focuses on Asian-inspired pastries, like a Vietnamese coffee milk bun, a Thai tea mango croissant, and an okonomiyaki danish. If you want to get your hands on one of their assorted pastry boxes, you can do so by pre-ordering here for pick up in Berkeley, Redwood City, or SF on Friday or Saturday.

This spot is Permanently Closed.
This is the first restaurant and taproom from New Belgium Brewing, a brewery based out of Colorado. The flagship location in Mission Bay opened last weekend with a massive patio and indoor space, so if you’re looking for somewhere to chill with a flight of beer and a truffled chicken sandwich, make a reservation here.
Red Bay Coffee in Oakland is one of our favorite spots to hit up for fantastic coffee - and they just opened a brand new café in Fruitvale. Stop by to check out the airy, three-story space (it used to be a bank) and grab a cappuccino or a charcoal latte, which you can enjoy inside or take to go.
