Fall has officially arrived, puffer jackets are out in full force, and as always, there are lots of fun events, new openings, and pop-ups happening throughout the city. We update this guide weekly, so check back in throughout the month.
After temporarily closing to undergo renovations this summer, Marlena, the Bernal Heights spot known for its excellent $65 tasting menu, is officially back open, seven days a week. Expect the same frequently changing four-course meal of things like hiramasa crudo and grilled beef cheek, plus a sleeker interior.
La Cocina Municipal Marketplace in the Tenderloin is hosting a guest pop-up on September 30th: Dabao Singapore. Expect a six-course Singaporean menu inspired by hawker centre dishes, like rendang beef tartare, mushroom laksa, and corn melon sago. Tickets are $95 each and can be purchased here.
This new late summer and early fall-themed tasting menu at Flour + Water is as good an excuse as any to head to the Mission spot for fantastic pasta. The $125 menu is available from September 10th to October 10th, and highlights seasonal dishes like blue corn cappelletti and Jimmy Nardello agnolotti.
A Mid-Autumn Festival pop-up to check out is Full Moon. It’s happening at Viridian, the swanky cocktail bar in Uptown Oakland, from September 7th-30th. Head over for Asian-inspired cocktails, food, desserts, and art all month long.
The latest spot we’ve slotted into our caffeine-fix rotation is Fiddle Fig Cafe. The plant-filled space is just where we want to be for coffee, fruit shakes, and pastries—plus, they have fast wifi and plenty of sunny sidewalk seats.
