Experienced shoppers and sale enthusiasts know that Amazon’s two-day Prime event is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Prime Day is up there with Black Friday and Cyber Monday in terms of securing giant discounts — and you can do it all without even leaving your couch.
If you’re ready to give your home and kitchen some major upgrades on a budget, Prime Day is the best way to do so. However, many of Amazon’s great deals often sell out fast, so you’ll want to be prepared.
Ready to take advantage of the best Prime Day Deals for yourself? Here’s everything we know so far (including the dates for Prime Day 2021!).
What Exactly Is Prime Day?
At this point, you probably know this but here’s a refresher: Prime Day is Amazon’s annual site-wide sale that the online retail giant first hosted in 2015. Only Prime members are able to take advantage of the deals, so if you’re not a member yet, it’s a good enough reason to warrant signing up. If you’re still holding out and don’t have access to your friend’s/parents’/ex-boyfriend’s account, there’s a 30-day free trial.
Prime Day itself (which is more of a 48-hour deal in recent years), is structured a bit differently from traditional online sales. Instead of discounting every item in a category or offering a site-wide discount code, Amazon launches lightning sales on specific products at a steep discount for just a few hours. In order to get the best deals, you’ll want to regularly refresh Amazon’s site to see when the big ticket products are posted — previous hot items have included Zojirushi rice cookers, 4K TVs (which are already on sale!), and air fryers. Hundreds of items will be available at their slashed rate until the timer runs out or it sells out, with items being added to the sale every few minutes, so it can be a bit intense.
Feeling overwhelmed? We’ll be right with you, sorting through the mountains of meh-deals so you can shop the best ones, so make sure to check out our Prime Day coverage when the big day comes.
This All Sounds Great, But When Is Prime Day This Year?
Traditionally Amazon hosts Prime Day in mid-July, but if you’re thinking “wait, I thought I heard about Prime Day kind of recently,” last year’s sales event was held in October.
Amazon just announced that Prime Day for 2021 will start 12 a.m. PDT on Monday, June 21 and conclude at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, June 22. That’s 3 a.m. June 21 to 2:59 a.m. June 22 for the East Coasters. For the best home, kitchen, and entertaining deals, you’ll want to check out our curated sale coverage that we’ll keep updated the whole two days.
