Gilda is a Portuguese-inspired café and market in Fishtown, down the street from Murph’s Bar and Joe’s Steaks & Soda Shop. It’s a quiet spot perfect for grabbing coffee to go or working over lunch. The sunny space has a European-countryside feel, with patina mirrors and inlaid tiles on the wood floors. In their market, you can get deliciously spicy housemade chorizo, cheese, tinned fish, and chocolate. If you’re dining in, the menu includes sandwiches, salads, char-grilled chicken, and salt cod fritters. But it’s the housemade pastries–like the sweet and airy pasteis de nata—that are worth going out of your way for.
