Gilda Café & Market
Included In
Gilda is a Portuguese-inspired café and market in Fishtown, down the street from Murph’s Bar and Joe’s Steaks & Soda Shop. It’s a quiet spot perfect for grabbing coffee to go or working over lunch. The sunny space has a European-countryside feel, with patina mirrors and inlaid tiles on the wood floors. In their market, you can get deliciously spicy housemade chorizo, cheese, tinned fish, and chocolate.
If you’re dining in, the menu includes sandwiches, salads, a surprisingly complex piri piri chicken, and salt cod fritters, all of which are delicious. If you don't mind waiting in line, start your day with the egg sandwich, topped with Cooper Sharp and housemade linguica sausage. Whatever you order, take a box of the housemade pastries to go—you'll eat all of the the airy pasteis de nata and squishy bolas de berlim before you have time to share, but we won't tell.
