Zabb Elee is a Northern Thai restaurant in the East Village, and the food is more authentic than you expect. They do a lot of salads, for example, but not the kind you find Sweetgreen. Start your meal with some larb - it’s a ground-meat salad, and they do a lot of different varieties. They also have your usual papaya salad, but they make about 10 variations. And if you’ve never had sausage at a Thai place, consider getting some here. The menu at Zabb Elee is huge, and if you don’t feel like branching out, you can always get Pad Thai. Try this place for a casual weeknight dinner. Although it’s pretty nice inside, so you could also bring a date here without hurting anyone’s feelings.
