Wheated is a neighborhood gem serving excellent Neapolitan pies with sourdough crust, fresh meatballs, and affordable cocktails in Kensington. The pies are named after Brooklyn neighborhoods like Ditmas Park and Vinegar Hill, and our favorite is the “Brighton Beach,” which comes topped with several slabs of crispy bacon, garlic, and black pepper: it’s like carbonara pasta on thin and crunchy crust. This pizza place with a few tables and a bar up front also sells great bagels on the weekend, as well as biscuits and sausage gravy.

Brighton Beach
Bacon on pizza would be a good band name. But at Wheated, it’s a short phrase we use to describe why we love this white pie. The thin and crispy strips taste just a little smoky, and pair nicely with the black pepper, garlic, and fresh mozzarella.

This vodka pie is a creamy, slippery mess and we love everything about it. After you’ve had it, you’ll probably start to crave it at random or whenever you see a leaf that slightly resembles basil.
