If you love burrata a lot, you’re going to want to try the square pie from Unregular Pizza in Union Square. Each slice comes loaded with a full ball of the creamy mozzarella cousin. And the crust is sturdy and crispy enough to hold up all of that cheese along with the curly pepperoni cups. There’s a giant caveat: one pepperoni burrata slice costs $12. It’s delicious pizza, but there are other square slices we’d point you to first (like Ace’s or Upside) and those are half the price.
Union Square has a new Roman-style pizza place offering burrata-topped slices, slivers of focaccia covered in a blanket of prosciutto and tomato sauce, and pistachio lasagna to-go. Unregular Pizza started as a takeout project run on a bartering system, so now that they have a brick-and-mortar location, they’re allowing one customer per day to barter in exchange for pizza.
