The Jane Hotel is an old brick building, and it feels a little like a clubhouse for explorers or steampunk enthusiasts. Which isn’t to say it’s not fun. The downstairs bar gets legitimately crazy on weekends, and the rooftop is a great place to watch the sun set over the Hudson. And now that it’s open to walk-ins, you can stop by and get a drink without having to book a room here. It’s only open Thursday through Sunday, however, and it closes on the earlier side (10pm, usually).

Conceived in the spirit of Little Owl, this is a tiny West Village restaurant perfectly engineered for surveying action while you eat. Dinner is generally better than brunch, but it's a nice place to dine any time of day.

Westlight is the cocktail bar and restaurant on top of the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg.
The Heights is the rooftop bar at the Arlo Nomad, and it’s pretty low-key for how nice the views are. Stop by for a drink before a show at MSG.
