The Jane Hotel is an old brick building, and it feels a little like a clubhouse for explorers or steampunk enthusiasts. Which isn’t to say it’s not fun. The downstairs bar gets legitimately crazy on weekends, and the rooftop is a great place to watch the sun set over the Hudson. And now that it’s open to walk-ins, you can stop by and get a drink without having to book a room here. It’s only open Thursday through Sunday, however, and it closes on the earlier side (10pm, usually).

Old Rose is a casual spot in the bottom of a hotel in the West Village where you can get some solid, affordable Italian/American food.
Perry St is a nice place, but it’s completely sterile and a little stuffy. The food was a let down - we expect a more dynamic meal from a Jean Georges restaurant.
We love Piccolo Angolo because it’s the antithesis of every other restaurant within walking distance. There is nothing cool or buzzworthy happening here, just really good, classic Italian food that will make you happy and probably very fat.
