The Commissioner
For a neighborhood with more strollers than adults, Park Slope is lucky to have The Commissioner. The 5th Avenue bar is always packed—it’s the closest thing this area has to a day-drinking destination, and the best place for a nightcap (until 2am on weekends) after every other business in the sleepy neighborhood is closed for the evening. TVs above the long wooden bar play whatever games are on, but you don't need to be a sports enthusiast to hang out here. Instead, order some chicken wings and a pitcher of beer and grab a seat outside, or head toward the back of the bar where the dart boards are. There’s usually a birthday party happening back there, so you can wait around and see if anyone wants to give you a piece of cake.
