Taverna Kyclades
Taverna Kyclades is one of Astoria’s best-loved Greek restaurants for a good reason. Between the consistently excellent food and cozy, low key atmosphere, we’ve never had a bad experience here. Seafood is the specialty, and your order should be built around whatever whole fish sounds best with a side (or two) of tart, melt-in-your-mouth lemon potatoes. Bulk it out with a lot of sharable starters, like the assortment of dips, some charred greek sausage, and a slab of the best spinach pie you’ll ever have. When they’re in season, fried smelts are a must. The wine list has an impressive selection of Hellenic wines at reasonable prices, so you can drink well without tacking an extra three-figures onto your bill. You won’t have the option to refuse dessert, and you won’t want to: The galaktoboureko they drop at the end of the meal is wonderfully light, crisp and creamy at once, accented with a hit of cinnamon. It’s the perfect way to end a memorable meal.
