Standings is a serious sports bar. If that phrase conjures images of Jets fans spilling beers on each other while missing aggressive high-fives, you’re not far off. But if you’re OK with (or excited about) a place where the entire focus is on the games on TV, then this is one of your best options in the city. The small space has eight TVs, which almost always play volume, and a rotating selection of high-quality beers. You can also bring your own food.

There’s plenty of ramen in the East Village these days, and no shortage of opinions on where to go. We happen to believe that Rai Rai Ken sits near the top of the heap, mostly because that shoyu ramen is so good, but also because it’s inexpensive and simple.
Avant Garden is a tiny vegan restaurant putting out some excellent, and very original food. You won’t find any veggie burgers here.
