Soothr
If you live in the East Village, you should know about this Thai restaurant like you know about your nearest hardware store. Respectively, both are full of items you’ll likely recognize (like pad see ew and wrenches) and things you may not have seen before elsewhere in NYC (like Sukhothai tom yum noodles and sprayable rubber). Our favorite dish at Soothr is the koong karee, which is a specialty dish in Bangkok’s Chinatown hub. It has a pleasantly gooey shrimp and egg consistency, and every rich bite tastes like shrimp paste just called curry powder to say “I love you.” Stop by for outdoor dining on their sidewalk or in their gazebo-like back garden.
