We’re always looking to make The Infatuation the best platform to find restaurants, and we appreciate your feedback!

Hi Infatuation reader. With restaurants around the country reopening, we understand that socializing in any form might still feel strange, and poses risks too. Should you go out to eat? That’s up to you. But we’ll continue to keep you informed as best we can. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at community@theinfatuation.com.

& Sons

(718) 284-0159

447 Rogers Ave

Brooklyn, NY 11225

We didn’t know NYC needed a ham bar until a former sommelier from Per Se opened up & Sons in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Now, we never want to go back to the Ham-less Ages again. Everything at & Sons, including the ten rotating country hams and hundreds of wines, is sourced from the U.S, and you shouldn’t leave without trying a smoky ham from Kentucky or Tennessee. All ham plates cost $14 and come with a side of cornbread madeleines and cornichons. Pair it with a cheese plate, and a mental list of all the friends you want to bring will begin to form in your head. When other knockoff ham bars inevitably start popping up around the city, just remember that & Sons was the first.

This self-proclaimed “neighborhood ham bar” wasn’t open for long before the city shut down and eating in restaurants became a fond and somewhat painful memory. So there’s a pretty good chance you’ve never been to this Prospect Lefferts Gardens spot. If that’s the case, order some charcuterie, cheese, and craft beer for your next indoor date night. They have plenty of all these things for pickup and delivery, and they also have eggs and bacon, in case you’d like to set the mood with an omelet.

Putting together a wine and charcuterie combination that’s not from & Sons Buttery is like listening to Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” on low volume - it’s still enjoyable, but you know it could’ve been better. To avoid that feeling, order from this ham bar in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. 99% of everything here is American-produced, and you can expect everything from hunks of humboldt fog and CSA boxes from Lancaster Farms to mortadella with Sicilian pistachios. Order your groceries here.

Movie Pairing: Obvious Child (Netflix)

“Not only is Jenny Slate’s character in Obvious Child the perfect stand-in for a friend right now, but the whole movie itself is also a perfect stand-in for normal Brooklyn life. Most of the scenes take place in Brooklyn bars, independent libraries, tiny apartments, and Planned Parenthood clinics. During their first real date, Jenny Slate’s love interest warms up a packet of butter in his hands for her so it’s easier to spread on her table bread. I find this gesture to be incredibly romantic, and think about doing it every time I see a cold butter packet in the wild. Order some sourdough bread and country ham from &Sons, grab some refrigerated butter, and you can do the same for your partner (or yourself) while you watch.” - HA

This ham bar in PLG recently started taking pick-up orders for charcuterie, cheese, and pantry items. It’s called & Sons Buttery, and you can see their full menu here. (They’re hoping to start delivery service soon, and you can keep an eye on their Instagram for updates).
