Rocking Horse Cafe has been around for several decades, and they make some affordable Mexican food that goes beyond your average burritos and enchiladas. Think mushroom quesadillas with jicama and apple, and lamb shank with polenta. Just be aware that this place is a favorite amongst locals, so expect a wait on weekends.
