Public Kitchen is the restaurant on the ground floor of Public Hotel. It’s got Jean George’s name on it, but it isn’t a good place to visit if you’re looking for a "great meal." What it is good for is getting a big group of people together, drinking a lot, and picking at a few pizzas and a piece of fish while you decide where you’re going to go next. The answer, by the way, is most likely “nowhere” as there are a few different bars/clubs/rooftops to take advantage of in the building. At least you’ll have managed to lay down a base before you give yourself responsibility amnesia via several gin and tonics.

Clinton St. Baking Company
During brunch hours, it’s not uncommon for people outside Clinton Street Baking Company to wait two hours for the pure, fluffy cakes of ecstasy that this place is known for. We won’t join them…but we can’t blame them either.

The Red Cat
There is a crowd that goes to The Red Cat because it’s a quality local spot with just enough flavor that they can rely on for a consistently good meal and a glass or two of wine. While it is indeed an older crowd, it’s not a stuffy one.
