Public Kitchen is the restaurant on the ground floor of Public Hotel. It’s got Jean George’s name on it, but it isn’t a good place to visit if you’re looking for a "great meal." What it is good for is getting a big group of people together, drinking a lot, and picking at a few pizzas and a piece of fish while you decide where you’re going to go next. The answer, by the way, is most likely “nowhere” as there are a few different bars/clubs/rooftops to take advantage of in the building. At least you’ll have managed to lay down a base before you give yourself responsibility amnesia via several gin and tonics.

Dirty French is a Lower East Side French restaurant from the people behind Carbone, and like that place, dinner here is definitely an event.
Spicy Village is not a romantic date spot. Unless styrofoam dishware gets you all hot and bothered. Take your friends, bring a bottle of wine, and prepare to spend $10 a piece on some delicious Chinese grub.

Quality cocktails and more than decent food on Smith Street. Brunch is a big deal here.
TAK Room is on the fifth floor of the giant mall at Hudson Yards, and it’s a very expensive place to eat some pretty good American food.
