Parm is slowly taking over New York, and we’re not mad about it. If you’re on the Upper West Side and craving casual Italian for lunch or dinner, it won’t disappoint. The classic sandwiches are great (though you will probably need a nap after taking on the Chicken Parm), but the vegetable sides and salads are good alternatives if you want something a little lighter.
Where we've featured it
Restaurants perfect for when you don’t want to make dinner, but also don’t feel like spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Good Enough To Eat
The Upper West Side may not be flush with noteworthy dining out options, but they certainly have one meal on lockdown – brunch. Good Enough To Eat has been an institution up in these parts for a good 30 years, and a spot we'll happily go to for simple, heavy handed home cooking.
Jin Ramen is a little Japanese restaurant on the Upper West Side where you can get a good bowl of ramen.
More Italian spotsSee more
A bit more touristy and a bit more parent-y than we remember, but Peasant still has a few home run dishes worth visiting for.
Bread And Salt
Bread And Salt is a BYOB pizza spot in Jersey City that serves some of our favorite slices around NYC.
Gaia Italian Cafe
Gaia is a little Italian place on the LES that keeps weird hours and has good, cheap food.
