Paper Daisy is a casual cocktail bar down a set of stairs in the East Village. It has a bar area up front and a dimly lit room in the back filled with tables, and there’s also a little patio out front where you can hang out and watch tourists point at things on St. Marks. It’s a great spot for an early-in-the-game date, and it’s also ideal when you just want to sit down and have a conversation with someone without having to shout. If you get hungry, there are some solid bar snacks like a burger, a duck hot dog, and chicken liver toast.

Mister Paradise is an East Village bar where you can get a casual cocktail made with buckwheat or fermented habanero. Try it for a first date.
