Nidhi Jalan, the chef and founder of Brooklyn-based food company Masala Mama, has a new vegetarian Indian pop-up residency in Gowanus. The menu (which is full of things like sourdough naan, saag made with kabocha squash, and vegan dishes using handmade, kettle-style tofu sourced in Connecticut) is available for in-person dining as well as takeout and delivery until September. This Indian restaurant project has been serving vegan and vegetarian dishes inside Michael & Ping’s in Gowanus since the beginning of summer. So if you’re looking for some homemade chana masala with tea and black cardamom, watermelon chaat salad, or dal makhani in the area, stop by from 5-9pm, Thursday-Sunday.
