The Lower East Side has no shortage of bars - day-drinking spots, speakeasies, places to dance, and almost every other type of bar you can think of. What it doesn’t have a lot of, though, is outdoor drinking options. So the next time someone recommends Hotel Chantelle, you should remember Make Believe - a tropical-themed cocktail bar on the roof of the Sixty Hotel in LES with two outdoor terraces. It tends to reach capacity pretty early on weekends, so we recommend making a reservation when you want to drink a matcha or sake cocktail in a pink booth.

Sons of Essex
This restaurant, Sons of Essex, is a damn near facsimile of Beauty & Essex, not necessarily in decor, but certainly in purpose. The idea here is exactly the same: Come looking good and looking to get wasted, and maybe have some food.
Russ & Daughters Cafe
Russ & Daughters has finally expanded, after 100 years in business. Now you can sit down in a comfy booth while you enjoy your lox, and it’s glorious.
Loreley Restaurant & Biergarten
Loreley is a traditional-feeling beer garden on the Lower East Side, and it’s a good place to get some day drinking done.

Good Story Rooftop Lounge
Good Story is the rooftop bar at the Arlo Soho hotel, and, as far as rooftop bars go, it’s a pretty pleasant place to hang with a group downtown.
Castell Rooftop Lounge
Castell Rooftop Lounge is the upscale bar on top of the AC Hotel in the Garment District. Drinks are pricey here, but there’s a nice outdoor patio.
Beer Authority is a huge bar in the Garment District where you can show off how much you know about IPAs.
