If you’re looking for an exciting downtown lunch option, check out L’ito’s. The menu at this woman-owned takeout spot by the Manhattan Bridge in Chinatown ranges from baked lasagna to fried chicken sandwiches, and panko-crusted mozzarella sticks. What’s important is that L’ito’s serves delicious sandwiches all-day that you can rely on for lunch or dinner when you get exasperated by what’s happening in your fridge. We especially like the “Jersey City,” which is their take on an Italian combo. It comes with spicy capicola, salami, pecorino, vinegar sauce, iceberg lettuce shreds, and raw red onions, all tucked between flour-dusted ciabatta. But if you’re feeling fried chicken, know that L’ito’s serves a fantastic fried chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce, ranch, and spicy pickled peppers that brought us back to the chicken tender baskets and accompanying dipping sauces of our American youth. While you wait for your food, check out their awesome wine shop next door (called Leisir. And make sure to follow L’ito’s on Instagram for specials like sourdough pizza pop-ups on weekends.
