Jimmy is on the roof of the James Hotel in Soho, and it’s better-looking than your average rooftop bar. It also tends to attract good-looking people. So put on something nice and try to meet someone who owns a boat. Or, you know, just people watch. There’s an indoor lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, and there’s an outside patio with a pool in the middle. Bring a bathing suit if you’re really going for it, just be aware that this place gets pretty busy.

Smile To Go
The crowd at Smile To Go is trendy, but the food isn't. The salads, soups, and sandwiches are simple, fresh, and some of our favorite in Soho.
Lupe’s East LA Kitchen
Lupe’s is a California-style Mexican restaurant on a corner in southwest Soho. It feels like a fun diner, and it’s where you go for casual enchiladas.
Papatzul seems to be just more middle-of-the road Mexican that pairs acceptably with strong margaritas. It’s the kind of place where you have to yell at the person sitting across from you, and should probably order everything the moment you see your server because you might not see him again for a while.

Westlight is the cocktail bar and restaurant on top of the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg.
A.R.T. is the rooftop bar at the Arlo Nomad, and it’s pretty low-key for how nice the views are. Stop by for a drink before a show at MSG.
